State of AppDiggity 2021

State of AppDiggity Blog Post

Founded in 2015, AppDiggity experienced many highs and lows while trying to find it’s identity.

The first app that we ever launched was called Ebola Flop. It was a copy of the classic mobile game Flappy Bird, but this time, a virus traveled through a virtual blood stream. While this app is no longer in stores, it taught us what we did not want to build. We didn’t want to build apps that provided no value or use to people. We wanted to create something that changed peoples lives.

After many more failed attempts at creating an app that we could be proud of, we finally created an app that gained some traction. This app is called Quit Masturbation Calendar (iOS | Google Play). The title of the app says it all. We designed the app specifically to help people struggling with masturbation and porn addiction. We have gone through multiple iterations, but our latest version is highly rated, and includes a built-in community of people that are also struggling.

With the success of Quit Masturbation Calendar, we rolled out many more niche addiction apps, some of which were a flop, while some had and still have great success. Some of our successes in this area include Alcohol Addiction Calendar (iOS | Not available for Google Play), Gambling Addiction Calendar (iOS | Not available for Google Play), and Food Addiction Calendar (iOS | Google Play).

As the founder of AppDiggity, I myself had struggled with some of the addictions that our apps helped others break free from. I used the techniques that helped me overcome addiction within our apps, and am happy to report that many people continue to find them useful.

After 3 years of designing apps, outsourcing development, and doing everything else by myself, my outsourced developer disappeared with no source code to be found. AppDiggity was in a rut. For the next 2 years, we saw declining sales, declining downloads, and a lack of new designs.

It wasn’t until January 2020 that I realized that what would become one of the greatest assets to the company was a person I had known for the past 5 years. This person was Adam Meyer, a JavaScript developer, and someone who is also passionate about helping other people and creating great products. After a few weeks of talking to Adam, I convinced him to come on board to AppDiggity as a co-founder and developer. Adam is now a massive part of this company, and AppDiggity would be nowhere near where it is right now without him.

As soon as Adam came on board, we hit the ground running with new designs for all of our current apps. The new designs and features proved to be a big hit with our users, and we now have a steady amount of satisfied customers.

We have found that the suite of niche addiction apps that we have are not enough for some people. A lot of people have multiple addictions, and want a community that will support them through their difficult time. That is why, in late 2020, we launched All Addictions: Addiction Help (iOS | Google Play). This app took all of the best features from our other addiction apps, and created an all encompassing addiction app that can serve an unlimited amount of addictions. You can choose from our built-in addictions, or create your own addiction if it is not listed. Also, users now have the ability to switch back and forth between the communities of multiple different addictions.

Now we come to 2021, and we just launched our best app yet. All Workouts: Personal Trainer (iOS | Google Play). This workout app is the result of the many years of struggle that I faced as a scrawny teenager and young adult trying to put on muscle. The internet is full of misinformation and false beliefs about exercise and putting on muscle. It took me years to figure it out myself, but we created this app so others don’t have to figure it out on their own. It has 9 built-in workout plans for building muscle, and 10 HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training) workouts for burning fat. You also have an unlimited amount of possibilities to create your own workout plan with our custom workout builder. I wish that I had this exact app when I was trying to build muscle. Luckily, you don’t have to go through that same experience.

As you can see, AppDiggity has come very far from our humble beginnings. What used to be a one man operation is now a 2 man team. We learned from our user base and created the 2 best apps possible based on the feedback that we received. All Workouts: Personal Trainer and All Addictions: Addiction Help. If you are a user of any of our apps, or if you have any feedback for us, we would love to hear from you. Head over to our contact page and drop us an email.

2021 has already been the best year yet for AppDiggity. We are going to be improving our apps and even launching some new ones soon. Stay tuned to see what we have in store for you!
